It was a couple days after the idea for the new album was concluded and Nino was stuck on what to write for his solo. At the moment, he was playing his X-box, getting his stress out. The sound of a faint knock blew its way into Nino’s preoccupied mind and he yelled “It’s open” just a few seconds late. He didn’t turn as the person entered his house and walked over to him.

“Nino,” the person said. It didn’t take Nino’s mind long to recognize that the voice belonged to Ohno.

“Nani?” he asked annoyed. He was at a critical part in his game and didn’t much feel like stopping, even for Ohno.

“I want to paint you,” the voice behind him persisted. “Pause the game.”

“Can’t I play if you’re just going to paint a portrait of me?” Nino asked, exasperated. Ohno should really know by now that he never liked to be interrupted from his games. And not for something that could be done by continuing to play them.

“Pause the game,” Ohno ordered. His voice was more demanding than Nino had ever heard it so (reluctantly of course,) he decided to pause his game to see what was eating at the older man. As he turned to face Ohno, he noticed that Ohno carried no canvas. Just a box of paints under one arm and piles of newspapers under the other. Nino looked into Ohno’s eyes and saw the artist look he got when he knew what he wanted to create. But behind that look was something Nino just couldn’t place.

“What do you mean, you want to paint me?” Nino asked cautiously. Ohno kneeled down, setting his paints to the side, and started to lay out the newspaper.

“Take off your shirt,” he instructed the smaller of the two men. Nino stared at him. Did Ohno mean that he actually wanted to paint him?
