Jun slowly slipped into the steaming onsen, jerking a little at the intense heat, but then dropping the rest of his body into the white water. He breathed out, all of the stress from the day leaving his body in those few wisps of air. The cool, night breeze tickled his exposed, bare skin. He could feel the silence lingering around him, but it was a relief from all the noise he had been surrounded by recently. Before sneaking out to the onsen, he had made sure everyone else was sleeping. Having them around was fun but always tiresome. He needed to be alone some of the time.
Jun yawned and leaned his head against the rocks behind him. Despite wanting to be alone, he could feel the tug of missing someone. That tug at the edges of his heart that said that he didn’t really want to be alone. That there was one other person he wanted to be with. Just that one. But how could he admit that to himself or anyone else? It wasn’t like Satoshi Ohno belonged to anybody. Let alone him.
Tired eyes dropped, heavy with sleep. Jun’s thought’s of Arashi’s riida slipped from his mind as an exhausted sleep overtook him.
Whether it was from the pressure against his side, or the heat of the onsen, Jun’s eyes flicked open. His head felt extremely light as he tried to get his bearings, disoriented.
The pressure at his side disappeared and a blurred face blocked his vision. “Ohno…kun?” Jun questioned, attempting to move but slipping on the ground of the onsen. Strong hands caught his waist, head falling on a bare shoulder and staying there, impossible to lift.
“Jun?” Ohno’s voice was strung with worry. “Jun, are you all right?”
Jun didn’t feel like answering the unneeded question of the older man. He was perfectly fine where he was, in Ohno’s arms. A fevered smile crossed his lips when that thought bore its way into his mind.
“How long have you been in here, Jun? You’re burning hot!”
Jun chuckled. He loved it when Arashi’s riida got concerned with the members. It showed that he, if only a little, possessed the quality of a “riida”. “I fell asleep, I was so comfortable,” he breathed.
“I know you were asleep, but I didn’t know for how long. I decided to wait until you woke up, but… But you’ve surely been in too long.” Ohno tightened his grip on Jun’s waist causing the younger’s skin to prickle and a wave of heat to course through his already burning body. He liked the feel of Ohno’s hands on him.
When Ohno hoisted Jun into an awkward standing position, Jun was unable to resist, hardly possessing the ability to move on his own. He tried to hold his head up but it rolled forward, full of dizziness. “You think you can walk, Jun?”
“Most likely… not,” Jun said, stumbling again. Before his mind could comprehend any movement, Ohno had lifted him onto his back. “Wow, Riida. You’re so fast.” Jun’s cheek rested against the elder’s shoulder, his face at his neck.
A snort of laughter came from Ohno as he made his way out of the onsen and into the building, dripping water the whole way. Jun closed his eyes and relaxed against the mans back. His oversensitive body burned more from Ohno’s hands on his legs and back against his chest then from the fever he figured he had. The cold air that brushed his skin as they walked back into the building only felt refreshing in contrast to his burning.
“Where are we going?” Jun asked. His words were heavy and his breathing labored even though he wasn’t doing anything.
Ohno shifted Jun on his back, causing friction. Jun’s head blanked and then clouded again with two different types of heat. “To your room, I s’pose,” he said. “Unless you locked it?”
“No,” Jun breathed. “It should be unlocked.” He wanted to say more. To ask ‘why not your room?’ but he was unable to speak the words. He rode Ohno’s back in a daze the rest of the way.
He felt Ohno stop and heard the click of a door opening as if detached. They entered the room and Ohno turned to gently drop Jun down on the bed. The softness of the sheets was so welcome to him that he immediately drifted into a peaceful sleep.
Jun dreamed. He dreamed that Ohno wrapped him up in his blankets. He dreamed of cool, soft hands on his face, of washcloths being changed periodically, of words of comfort.
He woke up from the dream into a cloud of comfort. He was warm and snug, more relaxed than he had been in weeks since the tour started. The onsen hotel had been the most welcome vacation he could have asked for.
Jun pushed himself up on his elbows, sliding out of the sheets that were wrapped almost protectively around him to reveal his unclothed chest. He looked to his right, to where the clock stood blaring the time of 2:14 am in his tired eyes. He then shifted his gaze to the left and choked out a noise of surprise. There was a half naked body laying on its back next to him, robe on, but splayed to show a smooth torso. Jun only calmed down enough to breath when he realized hat it was Ohno, harmless riida, remembering the occurrences of the night.
Ohno seemed to be sleeping soundly. Jun sympathized with him because he knew how tiring all of these concerts were. Especially for the riida who also fished and drew whenever he got a spare moment to slip away.
Jun turned to his side, facing Ohno, and propped himself up on his arm. He stared down at the man’s peaceful face and with his free hand reached over to stroke Ohno’s cheek once.
Ohno stirred at the slight touch startling Jun so much that his hand sprang back. “Jun…? You’re awake?” Ohno asked, groggy eyes blinking up at him. Jun nodded. Obviously he was awake.
Ohno pushed himself up and closed his eyes, yawning out the words, “Are you doing ok?” Jun sat up fully and stared down at his hands. His heart was beating fast but he figured that wasn’t from the fever. Hid face felt warm but he figured that wasn’t from the fever, either.
“I think the fever broke…” he said, not looking back to the older man beside him.
Suddenly, a hand was reaching to his forehead, pushing back his hair and Ohno’s face was in his. Jun jerked back, wincing as the back of his head hit the headrest of the bed.
“Woah, Jun, calm down,” Ohno said, chuckling and moving closer in front of Jun. “I’m just making sure you’re fever’s actually gone.” He pushed Jun’s hair of his forehead and pressed their forehead’s together. Jun held his breath, heart pounding so loud he feared Ohno would be able to hear it.
When Ohno pulled away, he did so slowly, hand trailing down the length of Jun’s face letting the hair fall back into his eyes. The hand rested on Jun’s cheeks and he opened his eyes to see Ohno’s not but three inches from his.
Jun stared into the riida’s eyes and then looked down, afraid of what might be present in his. “Thank you… for caring for me,” Jun said in a quiet voice. Ohno smiled, but didn’t move, giving Jun some time to realize something strange about the current situation. Ohno rarely cared for anyone, not even himself. So what was so different now? He raised his gaze once again to look at the man with questioning eyes.
“You’re always taking care of all of us, Jun,” Ohno said, shrugging and pulling away, his hand falling from Jun’s face. “I though you deserved to he cared for for a change.”
A smile hit Jun’s face then, brightening his features greatly. Without a second though, he leaned forward and swiftly kissed Ohno on the cheek. When he backed off, he noticed a slight color to the older man’s cheeks. “Thanks, Riida,” he said, inching back under the covers.
“I… I hope you don’t mind; I borrowed tour robe…” Ohno mumbled, suddenly uncomfortable. “I’ll just go back to my room, then.”
Jun grabbed Ohno’s hand and pulled him back onto the bed. “Why don’t you just stay the rest of the night here, Riida? It’s pretty late.” Jun couldn’t understand this sudden burst of confidence with Ohno, but he decided not to let it slip away. “It’s more comfortably with you next to me, anyway.” He said the words easily, realizing they were true, remembering how easily he had slept next to Ohno the other times that night.
A smile creased Ohno’s lips as well, albeit haltingly. He crawled under the covers next to Jun and looked at him, cheeks still colored pink. “That’s good, because I like sleeping with you, too.”
Jun laughed and cozied up to Ohno, ever so aware of their nakedness. “Good night, Ohno. Sleep tight.”
“Oh, I will,” Ohno replied, but Jun was already sound asleep. He didn’t even twitch when Ohno kissed his lips gently, so he decided he would save what he had in mind for another day or night and fell asleep besides Jun. Right where they both wanted to be.
